Chapter 251 [Empire] Video
"Record?" His voice was soft, yet somewhat meaningful. "Do you think there was anything worth recording last night?"
I looked up at him. His expression was natural, even the weariness in his eyes concealed. Such gentleness made last night's scenes seem even more unreal. I paused, trying to find words to retort, but the tinge of discontent in my heart couldn't help but bubble up.
"Of course it's worth it." I curled my lips and deliberately avoided looking at him. "Maybe I can even show you what you look like when you're drunk."
Wen Ya chuckled, as if she had heard a funny joke. He put the teapot down, moved a little closer, and said in a soft voice, "What do I look like when I'm drunk?"
He asked calmly, even with a hint of nonchalant sarcasm. Suddenly, I felt a bit angry and deliberately stretched out my voice, "You cry like a baby and won't fall asleep unless someone holds you. Do I need to remind you?"
His smile faltered, a hint of obscurity flashing across his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. He leaned back in his chair, took a sip from his teacup, as if to mask his emotions. "If it's really that funny, it should be recorded," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.
"It turns out we're on the same page."
Wen Ya didn't say anything else, just looked at me quietly, his eyes gentle but with a hint of inquiry. I felt uneasy when he stared at me like that, so I simply lowered my head and continued eating breakfast, not looking at him.
After a long time, he finally spoke, with a hint of helplessness in his voice: "It seems that I made you worry last night."
He said this lightly, as if he was casually admitting a small mistake, but he was unwilling to delve into it any further. I was holding back with anger, knowing that he had once again used this harmless attitude to avoid all questions.
"Next time you cry so miserably, don't forget to remind me to turn on the camera." I looked up at him and smiled nonchalantly on purpose.
He was stunned for a moment, his eyes evasive for a second. After a moment, he chuckled and shook his head: "That's funny."
"Never mind. Just be like you are today." I lowered my head to cut the fried eggs, trying to make my tone sound casual. "But next time, don't make me worry so much that I can't sleep well."
Wen Ya looked up at me for a moment, the smile on her lips slightly faded, and she whispered, "I won't let you worry anymore."
Wen Ya sipped his tea, seemingly trying to use this time to gather his emotions. After he put down his cup, he belatedly asked, "By the way, why did you suddenly return to the capital? Is it because another foster parent lives here?"
His tone was casual and calm as usual, but I could hear doubt and a hint of belated concern in it.
"Shan Qi's matter," I replied simply, my tone deliberately casual, without further explanation. The name seemed to float in the air for a moment before it reached Wen Ya's ears.
When Wen Ya heard the name, he was visibly stunned, the rim of his teacup jiggling slightly in his hand. His expression shifted from calm to surprised, seemingly caught off guard. His eyes narrowed, as if he was trying to process the meaning of my words.
He opened his mouth slightly as if he wanted to say something, but the words stopped abruptly when they reached his lips, leaving only a soft breathing sound.
"Shan Qi?" he repeated slowly, his voice low, as if to confirm what he had heard correctly. His fingers tapped the edge of the table lightly, seemingly involuntarily, his brows furrowed slightly. "Is it... that Shan Qi?"
