Chapter 519 [Empire] Continue

As the night deepened, the cold seemed to solidify in the air. The night wind, with its biting chill, swept through the corners of the warehouse, emitting a low whistling sound. Silence reigned, as if even the hustle and bustle of the planet had been frozen, leaving only the occasional hum of machinery and our occasional breathing.

Qianmo and I sat in the corner, silent. The long silence wasn't oppressive, but rather a quiet comfort. We all know that many questions have no answers, and perhaps never will. Life goes on, and we can only keep going.

After a long moment, I stood up and stretched. "Keep going, there's no time to waste," I forced a smile, a hint of resignation. My physical fatigue still left me feeling a bit overwhelmed, but since the mission wasn't yet complete, I couldn't stop.

Qianmo raised his head, his eyes still clear, as if none of this had anything to do with him. "Yeah." He nodded gently, stood up, and walked side by side with me towards the pile of supplies.

As we returned to work, the night sky around us gradually settled into a silent blackness. As the sky darkened, the lights inside the warehouse flickered, occasionally illuminating some damaged items, making them look particularly abrupt. The chill in the air was almost suffocating, but no one stopped to rest.

Just as we were busy, a truck suddenly pulled into the warehouse and screeched to a halt in front of us. The supplies inside were clearly transported from the front lines. The soldiers on board quickly disembarked without a word, simply starting to unload the cargo. Most of the supplies were already damaged by the war plants, and even some damaged combat weapons were visible.

I silently gazed at the supplies, my mind racing back to the previous battle. I knew the war on this planet never ceased. Every reconstruction concealed more sacrifice and loss.

Qianmo seemed to sense my change in mood. He looked up at me, but didn't say anything. He simply continued with his work. We seemed to have grown accustomed to this unspoken understanding: no matter what difficulties we faced, we didn't dwell on them, but focused solely on the task at hand.

However, at this moment, my communicator suddenly rang. It was an encrypted signal, obviously a military order.

I answered the communicator, and an expressionless officer immediately appeared on the screen. "This is an order from headquarters," he said in a cold, curt voice. "All logistics personnel must immediately proceed to designated locations tonight to assist with the frontline cleanup. This mission is urgent, and there's no time to delay."

My heart tightened when I heard this. The urgency of the mission left me with almost no time to react. "Understood," I responded briefly, hanging up the communicator.

Qianmo looked at me, his eyes still calm, as if he had already anticipated this ending. "It seems our night is not over yet," he said.

I smiled, though a little tired. Regardless, such instructions had long since become the norm. No one complained, and no one stopped. Beyond life and death, there was only mission and responsibility.

"Let's go." I said, turning and walking out.

Qianmo followed closely behind, our footsteps echoing in the empty warehouse and gradually blending into the biting cold wind.
