Chapter 335: Abyss Art Museum (Part )

A burning smell came from the corridor behind him. Gin looked gloomily at the mycelium twisting and struggling in the high temperature, while Vodka covered his gas mask tightly with lingering fear.

"Brother, the mycelium should be burned now." Vodka asked, looking at the road that had become somewhat charred.

Gin replied with a cold face: "That's enough. This information is enough. Let the experimenters in the organization worry about the rest."

Gin sorted out the information and walked towards the stairwell without looking back, and Vodka hurriedly followed.

Now the perspective comes to Vermouth and the undertaker walking in the villa.

There was little communication between Vermouth and the undertaker. Vermouth walked in front, and the undertaker followed behind with a suitcase.

The first floor of the villa is decorated like an exhibition hall, with antique cars from the last century, old nautical charts and drifting bottles, and even old-fashioned aircraft.

"What a bummer! It looks like there's nothing worth noting here." Vermouth walked slowly past the exhibits. "It seems the original owner was a collector."

Faced with the topic raised by Vermouth, the undertaker still did not speak, but just silently stared at the parasitic aircraft on the display stand beside him.

"What's wrong? Is that something new?" Vermouth's lazy voice sounded. She didn't think there would be any danger in the above-ground part of the art gallery.

"Speaking of which, Xueguo, I've always felt that you were too silent. Someone like you is more suited to being in a research lab, isn't it? Besides, when you were a retainer of the Melodi family, you were also responsible for research, right?"

"Do you think this art gallery was created by your old master? However, these antiques don't look like the style of the Melody family. If it were theirs, there would probably be more famous paintings, photographs, sculptures, and other artworks."

Vermouth kept talking incessantly in order to find a topic to talk about, while the undertaker quietly took out a storage jar from his suitcase.

Then, Vermouth watched as the undertaker walked to the side of the parasitic aircraft and patted the old wings and gears with his hands. An unknown creature entangled in the propeller slid into the storage tank.

The undertaker showed the storage jar to Vermouth: "This is the essence of these works of art."

Vermouth looked at the unknown creature in the storage jar. It had a black, gelatinous body, twisting tentacles, and rotating eyeballs, which made people feel uncomfortable.

"What is this?" Vermouth moved away from the storage jar with a look of disgust.

The undertaker placed the jar into the suitcase and replied, "This isn't the work of the Melodi family, but I did see them display these strange and dangerous creatures in front of us. They call them the 'Abyss.'"

"They can distort the mind, alter cognition, and even drive people crazy. They were once used as energy, but now they are placed in these works of art..."

Vermouth felt a chill run down her spine. "Letting these dangerous experiments live on artwork? Are the Melody family crazy?"

"He's always been like this." The undertaker's eyes were calm. "There are no truly normal people in the Melody family."

[Sculptor: Aside from us living people, the other servants and the others are all deduced stand-ins sculpted by Lucky.]

[Lucky guy: And they are all illegal immigrants!]

[Antique Dealer: Is this something to be proud of?]

[Jack: Because they're all "illegal residents," Toru Amuro won't be able to find any information about them. We can even "massacre" them when we evacuate.]

[Photographer: What a waste! I'd better leave something for him.]

[Perfumer: Mr. Joseph is up to something bad again.]

[Prisoner: As long as it's not a mirror assassination.]

[Artist: Luca was so focused on fixing the machine that his nose was almost touching the keyboard.]

[Gravekeeper: So when we encounter assassins, we don’t have time to relax.]

[Prisoner: I really let go!]

Vermouth continued walking forward. Next to the antique car exhibition hall was an art exhibition. These paintings were obviously imitations, but they looked very uncomfortable.

Let’s talk about “The Last Supper” first. The painting should have depicted Jesus and his twelve disciples, but there are only four people painted on it. These four people are Judas, and the main seat in the middle is empty.

[Artist: This painting I made is not The Last Supper.]

[Adventurer: I suggest changing the title to "The Last Pseudo-Man."]

[Magician: What a brilliant idea.]

Then there's "Starry Night," a Van Gogh painting that should depict a flaming tree stump beneath a swirling starry sky. But the swirls in this painting aren't gold and white, but black and red, and those stars and swirls seem to hold some indescribable vision.

The tree stump below looked more like a wriggling mass of flesh, with tentacles like octopus tentacles reaching towards the terrifying starry sky.

[Painter: In order to paint this, I specifically asked Lord Hastur for "a certain kind of paint."]

[prophet:???]

[priest:???]

[The Lord in Yellow: I had to feel a sense of involvement, so I offered my help.]

[Forward: Hahahaha. I was wondering…how come these paintings look so realistic…]

In the painting "The Scream", the screaming person looks completely distorted. Against the black and red background, countless tentacles and eyeballs extend behind him. He seems to be screaming in fear of his dangerous situation.

Vermouth felt like she needed to cleanse her eyes. Could these paintings truly be called "art"? They were too... challenging the limits of human endurance.

Fortunately, there are not many paintings in this "flesh and blood style". Vermouth came to a gallery, and the paintings here were obviously much more normal.

"The name of this painting is 'The Origin of Evil'?"

In the picture, a cute girl wearing a white and gold puffy skirt, holding a small doll and with two short goat horns on her head stands in the center, while behind her, hideous purple-black plants occupy every possible place to stand.

Further away, one could see burning houses, quarreling and fighting crowds, and blood all over the ground.

"'The source of evil' refers to such an innocent lamb-like girl?" Vermouth gently stroked the painting.

The undertaker put it succinctly: "In this already corrupted land, people maintain a false and fragile balance. When a pure, beautiful girl enters here, she becomes the 'source of evil' that destroys this balance and ignites all disputes."

[Novelist: The theory of original sin is extremely stupid.]

[Explorer: This is a typical example of someone blaming others for their own mistakes.]

[Entomologist: Vermouth should be able to think of someone else.]

[Air Force: Xiaolan? She is indeed the angel in Vermouth’s heart.]

Vermouth did think of Xiaolan, her angel. In this fallen land, in this filthy world, she was Vermouth's ray of sunshine, allowing her to see the truth, goodness and beauty of the world again.

"My angel will never become the 'source of evil'."

The little girl in the painting "The Source of Evil" has an innocent and sweet smile, but in this fallen land, even the most harmless lamb will be obscured by the haze of sin.
