Chapter 385: The Court and the Visiting “Lamb” (Part 5)
Chapter 385: The Court and the Visiting “Lamb” (Part 5)
"So you've come to a courtroom where Melody most likely won't personally inspect it?" the lawyer shuffled the files on his desk. "You're incredibly bold! If Melody discovers this, you'll be in danger of losing your life. You can't inherit the memories of your 'previous life' like Lady Mary can."
The reporter nodded. "But I still have unlimited opportunities to try and fail. Since I can't recall all my previous memories, I'll write little by little, with a pen or a knife. No matter what, I can't forget where I'm going."
The reporter then took off her gloves, and there was an obvious scar on her hand, which seemed to be a burn mark, and a short sentence could be vaguely seen.
“DO NOT LOOK BACK!”
"Don't look back..." Conan looked at the scars on the reporter's hands in shock. He clearly remembered that when he was on the Suzuki Express, the reporter's hands had no scars at all and were as smooth as new, but now there were so many scars on them.
"If, Ms. Lamb, your 'resurrection' is based on the same principle as that of Mrs. Mary, how many times have you 'died' without retaining those memories?" Conan admired the reporter's tenacity and courage.
"I don't remember clearly, but this trace was left from the last time. I remember finding what appeared to be the raw materials for the manor's special potion in a secret plant cultivation room, but a fire broke out at that time. I 'remember' I was standing in the middle of the corridor, with ferns on both sides swaying their branches in the flames, twisting and burning..."
"I don't remember exactly what happened to me in the end, but I do remember picking up the broken pieces of the flowerpot that had been burned by the flames, and this reminder was left on my hand."
Conan was once again shocked by the reporter's determination: "Ms. Lamb, why did you do this? What is worth such a sacrifice?"
"That is 'her' wish, and it is 'our' wish as well. We sincerely hope that the Nightingale and the Raven can wake up from their nightmare and fly again under the sunny sky."
The reporter's eyes were full of determination and fearlessness, and she looked like she was ready to sacrifice at any time.
[Entomologist: Alice's acting was truly wonderful.]
[Explorer: And so far, there hasn't been a single lie.]
[Composer: The sacrifice is real, the hard work is real, the tenacity and fearlessness are real, but the fact that she appears to be the weaker party is fake.]
[Novelist: I've already written Alice's script. In order to make "Orpheus's" nightmare personality disappear and completely cure his schizophrenia, she, as the mastermind behind the scenes, sent her capable subordinates to lurk around the target.]
[Explorer: Able-bodied Person x1]
[Entomologist: Able-bodied Person x2]
[Composer: Able-minded person x3]
[Madam Red: Able-bodied General x4]
[Novelist: Ahem, Madam Mary, why are you here to join in the fun?]
[Little girl: Ophio Ophio, please continue with the rest of the story.]
[Novelist: Because there is a mastermind behind the scenes, "Orpheus" has been under constant surveillance, including the fact that the psychiatric medication he is currently taking has been spiked with the Manor potion.]
[Explorer: I have a feeling you've been badly played with this scenario.]
[Composer: Haha, the script with the identity reversal is really interesting.]
"Have you decided where you're going?" the factory manager frowned. "We can only survive under Melody's pressure now. If we bring you along..."
The meaning of the factory director's words was self-evident. If they brought reporters with them, they would probably be forced to stand on the opposite side of Melody instead of the neutral side.
The gardener complained, "Dad, what are you talking about? Ms. Lamb is risking her life. Just because we've got the intelligence, can we abandon her just because Melody will track her down if we take her in?"
"Little Lisa, I'm worried about your safety. We can certainly fight for it, but I don't want you to get involved in this."
The gardener put his hands on his hips and said unconvincedly, "I'm Lisa Baker, and I'm also Emma Woods. The disasters of the past can't defeat me. Dad, I've grown up, and I'm capable of protecting myself."
"Emily, you will support me, right?" The gardener looked at the doctor with his big watery eyes. "Right, right?"
Without waiting for the doctor's answer, the philanthropist was the first to squeeze in front of the gardener and said, "Ms. Woods, I'm sure I'll listen to you!"
"Heh, going against the Melody family for this matter is simply stupid..."
Before the lawyer could finish his words, he was hit hard on the head by the factory director: "Are you here to boost others' morale and destroy your own prestige?"
"So, Dad, you agree to keep Ms. Lamb?" The gardener looked at the lawyer who was covering his head and the factory director beside him.
"Ms. Lamb, you can come to our Thistle Group's safe house anytime you like. As a veteran of the organization, I believe I have some respect among the supervisors."
[Violinist: For the sake of Lao Jiumen's reputation.]
[Broken Wheel: Hey, we heard Jack is about to be strengthened, it's time to kick him out of our prison.]
[Jack: You guys have also been strengthened, why are you targeting me alone?]
[Joker: Who made you the most popular person in Prison Nine?]
"Mr. Leo, thank you for your generosity, but I think... as of now, Melody probably hasn't had time to discover that I stole the film. He must be busy with another thing right now." The reporter smiled.
"Miss Galatea found her crush a while ago and is now pursuing him madly. I heard she had a big argument with Melody. She said she wouldn't stop until she got him, and if Melody couldn't help her, they'd break up."
"Huh?" Now it was the lawyer's turn to be confused. "No, that sculptor actually has someone he likes? Is that true? What boy is so unlucky to be chosen by her?"
"Well, Miss Galatea's admiration is for Miss Helena Adams. It's not the kind of admiration between a boyfriend and a girlfriend..."
"Okay, I get it. I think she thinks Miss Helena would be a better fit for a statue," the lawyer said, rubbing his forehead. "I thought those crazy art people had finally gotten sane."
Conan was horrified: "Then Miss Helena will not be in danger!"
"She has a wielder, Giruff, watching over her. He was once the overlord of the sea and a descendant of Lagertha. Nothing can escape her keelbone bow." The lawyer replied calmly.
The doctor added, "That's assuming Miss Brunel doesn't let alcohol ruin her work. She drank too much 'adult happy water' a while ago and couldn't even recognize faces. Her great-grandfather, in a rage, sent her to me for brain treatment."
"Um, wait, let me ask, did your Oletus organization specifically send this Miss Berrenhill to be with Sister Helena?"
"After her brain was healed, she had nowhere to go. After all, her great-grandfather's library had changed hands, so Itakuya simply let her be Miss Helena's bodyguard."
"Wait, something seems off." Conan's mind raced before he realized what the problem was. "Itakuya is the name of the 'Night Watchman,' right? He... he's Miss Brenhill's great-grandfather? Isn't he still underage? How are generations calculated?"
