Chapter 377 - 227: Eye of the Stars
Chapter 377 - 227: Eye of the Stars
Starlight Calendar 1345, Month of Flowing Fire (July).
Starlight Academy Teleportation Plaza was bustling with people.
A dozen or so teleportation arrays formed a circle, placed in the very center of the plaza.
Every moment, people emerged from the teleportation arrays, while others entered them.
At the edge of the plaza, Donohue watched the teleportation array intently, occasionally taking out a pocket watch to check the time.
Four or five minutes later, his eyes suddenly lit up as he waved to someone who had just stepped out of the teleportation array.
"Fleming, over here!"
Several students nearby were drawn by Donohue’s voice. Following his line of sight, they noticed the badge on that person’s chest indicating a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, and their eyes couldn’t help but focus.
"A Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, which course’s instructor is he?"
"Level 3 Wizard Apprentice doesn’t necessarily mean they’re an instructor, they could also be a Star Alliance official."
"Wait a minute, this person looks familiar... I’ve remembered, it’s Fleming, the one who is only second to Mentor Sherman and Mentor Cole, the fastest to become a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice!"
"Ah, so it’s him!"
Under the admiring gaze of several students, Fleming crossed the plaza and joined Donohue.
Donohue teased, "You’re quite the celebrity at the academy now."
Fleming chuckled, "In terms of fame, Senior Sherman and Senior Cole are the famous ones; hardly anyone remembers me as the third."
"Come on, being third is not enough? I don’t even qualify to be ranked," Donohue said with a pout.
Fleming smiled helplessly and asked, "You should be close to advancing, right?"
"Almost, in two or three years at most, I should be able to break through."
"Have you decided where to go?"
"I don’t have much of a choice, I can only join the Star Alliance."
As the number of Level 3 Wizard Apprentices increased, the teaching resources at Starlight Academy gradually exceeded demand, and the academy’s standards for instructors slowly rose.
Nowadays, one had to construct at least twelve starlight rings, or have made achievements in any one field such as [Potion Making], [Puppet Refining], [Magic Item Crafting], or [Biological Transformation], and pass the assessment to become an instructor as a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice.
Other Level 3 Wizard Apprentices either remained at the academy as students or joined the Star Alliance.
Though the latter needed to fulfill certain obligations, they received a generous monthly subsidy, so most Level 3 Wizard Apprentices who did not meet the instructor standards chose this route.
Fleming was no exception.
However, next year he would be able to construct his twelfth starlight ring, and then he could apply for the instructor assessment.
The benefits of being an instructor at Starlight Academy were far more generous than those of a regular Star Alliance official.
The two chatted for a while before deciding to head to the dining hall for a meal.
As the number of students increased, the academy subsequently built several more dining halls.
Fleming and Donohue still picked the second dining hall, where they first entered when they enrolled.
What once seemed like exorbitant prices on the recommended menu were now trivial to Fleming.
They casually ordered a few dishes, and the Water Spirit promptly brought the food to the table.
Seeing Fleming’s indifferent look towards the Water Spirit, Donohue teased, "Looking at you, it seems you haven’t spent much time with the Water Spirits hidden at home lately, have you grown tired of them?"
Fleming rolled his eyes and said, "I’ve been busy opening a Secondary Magic Stone mine, so busy I have barely set foot on the ground. I haven’t returned to my city residence for over six months."
Hearing this, Donohue curiously asked, "I heard it’s a large Secondary Magic Stone mine being opened this time?"
"That’s right, and it’s Senior Attila leading the team."
"Senior Attila, huh," Donohue said with unabashed envy on his face, "Senior Attila is so fortunate to be able to serve as Starfall gentleman’s assistant. I heard that even Carolina and the Red Widow highly respect her now."
Fleming smiled, "Senior Attila is truly a student recognized by the teacher. Even without the identity of an assistant, those two wouldn’t dare to be slack with her."
"How could it be the same? Now, in the entire Star Alliance, how many have a status higher than Senior Attila?"
Donohue picked up a piece of fish with his chopsticks, chewed it a few times, and swallowed it.
"I’m actually pretty puzzled, there were so many people participating in the assessment back then, why did Starfall gentleman choose Senior Attila out of all?"
"Others aside, among the participants were also Senior Sherman and Senior Ethan."
Fleming hesitated for a moment, then whispered, "I heard that Starfall gentleman is possibly a woman, and that’s why Senior Attila was chosen as the assistant."
Donohue was taken aback, "Really?"
"Just a rumor, I’m not sure if it’s true," Fleming shrugged, "After all, besides the top-ranking few, no one has ever seen the true face of Starfall gentleman."
"Where did this rumor come from?"
"It’s said to be from Eimi爷."
Donohue suddenly understood.
In the entire Star Alliance, if there’s anyone who holds no formal power yet is so highly regarded that no one dares provoke them, it could only be Eimi爷.
Eimi爷’s origins are mysterious, elusive, not Sunan’s magical pet, yet deeply cared for and favored by Sunan, standing in a transcendent position in the Star Alliance.
Moreover, Eimi爷 is said to be knowledgeable, aware of much intelligence and knowledge about the Wizard World, sometimes even the mentors consult it.
It knows a great deal about many Star Alliance matters as well.
If Eimi爷 had said it, then there’s a good chance it’s true.
After chatting about gossip for a while, their conversation turned back to the academy.
"Has anything interesting happened at the academy recently?" Fleming asked casually.
"What interesting things could happen at the academy..."
Halfway through his sentence, Donohue seemed to remember something, and his tone suddenly shifted:
