Chapter 14 Wings
Chapter 14 Wings
Upon hearing the question about the cub, Le Chu looked troubled. Not only him, but all the Lingyu clan members present were also completely bewildered.
Seeing that Le Chu hadn't answered for a while, Le Zhi's questioning gaze wandered around before finally settling on Le Chu.
"What's wrong?"
With a helpless smile, Le Chu chose to tell the truth, "It's like this, we have never seen this creature in your arms that you call Maoqiu. This forest is our territory, so this creature is very likely an outsider."
Is that so? Lezhi lowered her head and looked at Maoqiu, who returned an innocent look.
"Well..." After thinking it over, Lezhi hesitated before speaking, "If you're going to take me with you, I mean, if, can I take Maoqiu with me?"
“Of course, child, you are the youngest of our clan. So many of us have searched the forest for so long just to bring you back to our clan. As for this furry ball, you can certainly take it with you if it wants. You and it have become very good partners, haven’t you? As long as you want, no one can separate you.”
Le Chu's smiling voice rang out from above Le Zhi's head. He didn't know when, but Le Chu had already come to his side and was now looking at him with gentle eyes.
Looking up at Le Chu, Le Zhi smiled and said, "Okay, thank you."
"No need to thank me for such a small thing. By the way, child, what's your name? Can you tell me?"
Le Chu glanced at the furball nestled in the cub's arms, still feeling a chill when it confronted them earlier. Now, looking at it gave Le Chu an indescribable sense of disconnect.
Noticing that Le Chu asked for her name directly, instead of asking if she had a name first, Le Zhi's heart skipped a beat. She was a little surprised and suspicious. Her eyes flickered, and she subtly hugged the fur ball in her arms and took a small step back.
"Why do you ask that?"
"What?" A little confused by the cub's sudden rejection, Le Chu thought she had said something wrong and quickly tried to recall what he had just said.
"There's nothing wrong with it. Don't you know your own name?" After thinking for a while, she couldn't realize there was anything wrong with her question, and Le Chu's expression became somewhat serious.
"That's right. Our tree spirit race is all born from the mother tree. From the moment we become conscious, we are connected to the mother tree and gain talents. Once our talents are determined, we are also determined to belong to a certain race, and your name should be given by the mother tree."
Upon hearing Le Chu's explanation, Le Zhi recalled the space she had awakened in and her inexplicable affinity for plants. Her brows relaxed. If that was the case, then everything that had happened to her seemed to have a reasonable explanation.
Nodding, Lezhi said softly, "I see."
“Yes, but it’s a problem that you don’t know your name right now. Let’s go back first, and I’ll arrange to take you back to your birthplace later to ask the Mother Tree about your situation.”
Thinking about why the cub had ended up here, Le Chu's expression suddenly turned grim. The members of the Lingyu Clan behind her also looked solemn. Some of them, with their deep emotions, had eyes full of heartache for the cub. Unable to bear it any longer, they quietly turned their backs, not wanting the cub to see them sad.
The atmosphere suddenly became tense. Looking at the behavior of these people, Lezhi felt helpless and didn't know how to explain what had happened to her. "Um, Lechu, I think I know my name. My name is Lezhi."
"Oh, it's Rakuchi."
Hearing Lezhi's explanation, Lechu breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. Lezhi, you really are one of our Lingyu clan."
The expressions on the faces of the tribesmen behind him relaxed considerably. Lezhi was somewhat puzzled as to why they were reacting so strongly to such a small matter.
Without giving Lezhi time to think, Lechu confirmed Lezhi's identity and decided to take Lezhi back to her clan as soon as possible before making further plans.
"Alright, line up, we're ready to go. Lezhi, let's head back."
Interrupted from his thoughts, Lezhi looked up and saw that his clansmen, who had been scattered just moments before, were now getting ready to go. Just as he was about to respond to Lechu's words, a magical scene appeared before his eyes, choking Lezhi's response in his throat.
The Spirit Feather Clan members, who were already prepared, spread their hidden wings. In an instant, all sorts of colorful wings fluttered in the sunlight, adding a unique touch to the forest.
All the members of the Spirit Feather Clan had downy feathers on their wings, some long and some short, but all very thick. The beauty of the clansmen who unfurled their wings reached a new level, leaving Lezhi dazzled.
Leading the charge was a tribesman with green wings. The color of his wings transitioned from dark green to light green from top to bottom. It wasn't very noticeable when he was standing in the jungle, but now, as he took flight, his green wings stood out beautifully against the azure sky. He had already begun circling nearby, surveying the surroundings. Lezhi's pupils shifted, scanning the wings of his tribesmen, trying to find a place to land.
Seeing the curiosity overflowing in the cub's eyes, Le Chu smiled slightly. With a soft "whoosh," he also spread his wings.
When Le Zhi first met Le Chu, he was a cool and handsome man, but Le Zhi always felt that he was very kind to him. One of the reasons was that Le Chu had something in common with his current body. They both had similar white hair and gray eyes. However, in Le Zhi's memory, his hair color was more silver-white, while Le Chu's was a warm white like pearls.
Now, Le Chu spread his wings, the feathers matching his hair color, unfurling behind him and giving him a holy glow. Le Zhi, captivated by Le Chu's movements, felt as if celestial music was playing in his ears, instantly creating a truly immersive atmosphere.
Especially when a gentle breeze blows, ruffling Le Chu's waist-length white hair and the downy feathers on his wings, Le Chu becomes lively and brings Le Zhi, who was so stunned that she forgot to breathe, back to her senses.
Just when he thought he had seen enough wonders in this world, it would always surprise him unexpectedly. Pressing his pounding heart, Lezhi took a few deep breaths to calm his heart, which was pounding with excitement at the sight of such stunning beauty.
Nestled in Lezhi's arms, the fluffy ball naturally sensed that Lezhi's heartbeat was a little irregular. Its shrewd little eyes swept over the circle of two-legged creatures with outstretched wings in front of it, and the fluffy ball seemed to realize something, a knowing glint in its eyes. It nudged Lezhi's chin with its head, trying to attract Lezhi's attention with this gesture.
"Hmm, fluffy ball, what's wrong with you?"
A little bewildered by the sudden display of affection from the furry ball, Lezhi quickly hugged the ball to stop its overly enthusiastic behavior.
Seeing that Lezhi's attention had returned to him, Maoqiu chirped triumphantly and then glanced sideways at Lechu standing next to him.
With a flap of its wings, the fluffy ball broke free from Lezhi's embrace and took flight. After circling twice above Lezhi's head, it stopped in mid-air directly in front of Lezhi. With a long cry, the fluffy ball's body suddenly began to lengthen and grow larger.
This unexpected turn of events caught Lezhi, who had been with Maoqiu, completely off guard, while the Lingyu tribe members who had been drawn to the scene watched in astonishment.
