Chapter 108 It's time for us to make our second move!
Jiang Yang had anticipated this.
"Manager Chu, they'll definitely turn around and accuse us of selling inferior goods. Now, it's our turn to make our second move!" Jiang Yang's lips curled up slightly.
Soon after, Yang Xin released her second announcement.
"In response to Feirun Enterprise's accusation of 'using inferior materials to pass off as superior ones,' Yangxin Enterprise is willing to disclose all procurement contracts and production processes, and welcomes reporters from all media outlets to supervise and investigate! If Yangxin has any quality problems, we promise to compensate ten times the price for any counterfeit products!"
Jiang Yang's decision to make the contract public shocked everyone.
"My God! Yang Xin actually showed the contract! That's incredibly audacious!"
"The contract is crystal clear and unambiguous. What else can Feirun say?"
"Yang Xin is going all in, he's so confident in the quality of his product!"
Public opinion completely sided with Yang Xin, and Feirun Enterprises was plunged into a huge crisis.
When Zhang Yao saw Yang Xin's second announcement, he immediately flew into a rage.
"This Jiang Yang! Has he gone mad?! He actually showed the contract! Is a contract something you can just publish like that?!"
Zhang Yao was so angry that his face turned ashen. He felt like he had been tricked by Jiang Yang.
He roared, "Does he think he can win like this? How naive! Contact the backer behind him! Have them arrange for reporters! I want Jiang Yang to know that he's still too green to fight me!"
He secretly vowed to make Jiang Yang pay the price.
He thought Jiang Yang's decision to make the contract public was utterly foolish.
He immediately contacted his secretary, asking her to reach out to the investors behind him, preparing to use his media resources to launch a counterattack.
He couldn't believe he would lose to a mere kid.
The secretary nervously dialed the phone and relayed Zhang Yao's instructions.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yang was also making arrangements.
He dialed Zhou Limin's number.
"Hey, Limin, have you been busy lately?"
"Jiang Yang! You're a rare guest! You've been quite the celebrity lately, how could I not know about you? I was just about to call you. If there's anything I can help you with, just let me know!" Zhou Limin's cheerful voice came from the other end of the phone.
"I do have something to ask. The other side is probably going to start smearing us, and I'd like to ask you for a favor: could you find a few reporters from major newspapers to visit and interview us at the factory, preferably with full coverage? That way, the fabrications from those smaller newspapers won't have much impact."
Jiang Yang knew that the key to the information war lay in guiding the mainstream media.
"No problem, leave it to me! Those tabloid reporters are most afraid of being exposed. With official media present, they won't dare to write anything reckless. By the way, the principal wants to talk to you. Do you have time to come back to the school?"
"The principal wants to see me? Okay, I'll head back right away."
Jiang Yang hung up the phone, feeling a little puzzled. What did the principal want to talk to him about?
He immediately drove back to Yenching University.
Upon arriving at the principal's office, Jiang Yang gently knocked on the door.
"Please come in."
Jiang Yang pushed open the door and entered, seeing Principal Cai Peiyuan sitting behind his desk, flipping through documents.
"Principal, are you looking for me?"
Cai Peiyuan put down the documents, looked up at Jiang Yang, and showed a hint of concern on his face.
"Jiang Yang, I've heard about what's been going on with you lately, it's caused quite a stir. I want to ask you, did you, as they say, sell inferior goods as superior ones?"
Jiang Yang's tone was firm and resolute: "Principal, I graduated from Peking University. How could I possibly do something to smear my alma mater? Besides, our raw material supplier is a long-established brand in Beijing, and the quality is absolutely guaranteed!"
Cai Peiyuan nodded, his eyes filled with approval.
He knew Jiang Yang wouldn't lie about something like this.
Cai Peiyuan said slowly, "In that case, the school will be your strong support! We finally have such an outstanding student like you, how can we let them suppress you so easily? Go ahead and do your best, the school supports you!"
A warm feeling welled up in Jiang Yang's heart.
The support from his alma mater gave him more confidence.
"Thank you, Principal! I will definitely live up to your expectations!"
Jiang Yang left the principal's office.
He returned to the garment factory and, as soon as he entered the office, saw Li Yu, Cao Long, and Liu Ming there.
"Jiang Yang, how can we help?" Li Yu asked first.
Cao Long and Liu Ming nodded in agreement, indicating their willingness to contribute.
Jiang Yang looked at the three of them, and a warm feeling welled up in his heart.
True friendship is revealed in times of trouble; these roommates are truly loyal.
"Not now, I'll call you when I need to."
Jiang Yang knew that now was not the time for them to make their move.
The three nodded and left the office.
One day passed.
Chu Lan knocked on the door and came in, her expression serious: "Jiang Yang, a few reporters have arrived, saying they want to conduct an interview."
Jiang Yang put down the documents in his hand, looked up and asked, "Which newspapers?"
“They’re all small, unheard-of newspapers,” Chu Lan frowned. “They usually like to come up with strange and unusual headlines to attract attention.”
Jiang Yang raised an eyebrow.
It's surprising that so soon after the reform and opening up, there are already such tactics of using clickbait headlines to attract attention.
The reason he had never heard of these newspapers was most likely because these tabloids couldn't make a splash in this era, so they were hardly discussed in later generations.
Jiang Yang hesitated for a moment, then said, "Let them in. I want to see what kind of trouble they're up to."
Chu Lan nodded, turned around and went out to bring the reporters in.
As soon as the reporters entered, they pounced on the factory and products like hungry wolves, snapping away with their cameras.
The flashes of light were incessant, dazzling the eyes.
One of the reporters, wearing glasses and with slicked-back hair, walked up to Chu Lan and asked sarcastically, "Manager Chu, is this all your warehouses? Are there any other warehouses that haven't been made public?"
Chu Lan replied calmly and respectfully, "Our factory is only this big. What you see is what you get. There are no other warehouses."
Another short, stout reporter, holding a recording pen close to Chu Lan's mouth, pressed, "Did you temporarily change the items in the warehouse in preparation for this interview?"
Chu Lan sneered inwardly, but remained outwardly calm: "Yangxin has always operated with integrity and would never engage in such underhanded dealings. The contents of the warehouse have always been like this, and you are welcome to inspect them at any time."
The reporters couldn't find any loopholes in Chu Lan's words.
They took a few more photos of the factory and products, then left dejectedly.
"Jiang Yang, they've left." Chu Lan pushed open the door and entered, a trace of fatigue still lingering on her face.
Jiang Yang looked up from the pile of documents and smiled: "Thank you for your hard work, Manager Chu. But this is just the beginning."
Chu Lan was taken aback: "Start? What do you mean? Are there more people coming?" She rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on. "These reporters are like persistent ghosts. If this continues, it will have a huge impact on our sales."
