Chapter 23 Outsmarting the Magic Weapon
Chapter 23 Outsmarting the Magic Weapon
"Cough cough..." I struggled to get up, but the movement aggravated my injuries, and another wave of pain struck, causing me to groan involuntarily. Damn Black Wind, I'm his target. If I die, Li Yan can escape!
"Xiao Yao, how are you?" Li Yan's anxious voice came from afar, trembling slightly. I couldn't answer, and could only endure the pain and shout to her, "Don't worry about me! Quick, activate the mechanism!"
Li Yan was clearly stunned for a moment, then seemed to understand what I meant. A resolute look flashed in her eyes. Without further hesitation, she quickly ran to the wall and injected her spiritual power into the pattern I had pointed out earlier.
Almost simultaneously, the entire secret chamber began to shake violently, stones fell from above, and the ground began to rise and fall and shift, turning the once empty chamber into a maze in an instant!
"You think you can trap me like this?" Black Wind's voice rang out amidst the chaos, carrying a hint of contempt and disdain.
I braced myself, dodged a falling rock, and shouted in the direction of Black Wind, "Black Wind, you underestimate us! The secret of this secret room is beyond your imagination!"
As I spoke, I moved towards Li Yan's direction, secretly transmitting my voice to her: "Li Yan, lure the black wind to the southeast. That's the linchpin of the entire mechanism, and also the only blind spot!"
Li Yan understood immediately. She deliberately slowed down, pretending to be outmatched, and fought and retreated, leading the black wind step by step towards our predetermined location.
Black Wind, as expected, fell for the trap, thinking we had run out of tricks. He chased after us with a triumphant laugh, completely unaware that the path beneath his feet was subtly changing...
I hid behind a boulder, watching Black Wind's figure gradually disappear into the depths of the maze, a cold smile appearing on my lips.
"The game has only just begun!" I muttered, a cold glint in my eyes. Then, without hesitation, I turned and ran in another direction. There, the final move remained for me to make...
"Xiao Yao, wait for me!" Li Yan's voice came from afar, her tone tinged with doubt and worry.
My steps didn't falter; instead, I quickened my pace, and my voice carried far: "Proceed according to plan!"
Following the map of the secret chamber, I swiftly navigated the maze. Rocks occasionally tumbled down from above, but I always managed to dodge them at the last second, thanks to my agile movements. Besides the rumbling of the mechanisms at work, I could hear screams of agony. Those were Black Wind's henchmen; without the map I had, they were wandering aimlessly through the intricate maze like headless flies, ultimately becoming victims of the traps.
I arrived at a stone wall, took a deep breath, and channeled my spiritual energy into it. With the sound of gears turning, the stone wall slowly opened, revealing a secret passage leading underground. Without hesitation, I slipped inside, Li Yan following closely behind.
“They all…” Li Yan looked at me, hesitant to speak. I knew what she wanted to ask, but I had no intention of explaining. I simply said, “They brought this upon themselves.”
At the end of the secret passage was a circular stone chamber, where Black Wind was trapped. His surroundings were constantly shifting walls, blocking his path. His clothes were torn in several places, and his face showed signs of distress, clearly indicating he had suffered greatly from the traps and mechanisms.
Upon seeing us, Black Wind was taken aback for a moment, then flew into a rage: "You two cunning little girls!"
"Likewise." I sneered. "Black Wind, those who do many evil deeds will surely perish. You've finally met your match!"
Before I could finish speaking, Li Yan and I attacked simultaneously, unleashing two beams of spiritual energy towards Hei Feng. Despite his predicament, Hei Feng remained nimble, wielding his longsword to barely block our attack.
"You think you can kill me? You overestimate yourselves!" Black Wind roared, his body surging with black energy, and a powerful pressure spread outwards.
I know the real battle has only just begun.
This stone chamber is the heart of the entire structure, and also the tomb we meticulously prepared for him. Li Yan and I exchanged a glance, understanding each other perfectly.
"Start!" I commanded...
At my command, the entire stone chamber began to tremble violently. Li Yan and I leaped into the air, avoiding the spike traps that suddenly appeared on the ground. Black Wind wasn't so lucky; he hurriedly dodged, but was struck on the shoulder by a boulder falling from the ceiling, letting out a cry of pain.
"Do you think you can trap me like this?" Black Wind roared, his black aura intensifying. "Overestimating yourselves!" He brandished his long sword, deflecting the incoming hidden weapons one by one, but every step he took triggered a new trap, keeping him constantly on his toes.
"Black Wind, you have nowhere to escape!" Li Yan mocked as she manipulated the mechanism.
"Is that so?" Black Wind suddenly sneered. He slammed his longsword into the ground, and a powerful force erupted from the blade, shattering the surrounding mechanisms.
"Not good!" I was shocked. This power was extraordinary; it was probably his trump card!
"You're far from being able to trap me!" Black Wind laughed wildly, trying to seize the opportunity to break out of the stone chamber.
"Don't even think about it!" Li Yan and I attacked simultaneously, two beams of spiritual energy blocking his path from the left and right. Hei Feng took our blows head-on, letting out a muffled groan as a trickle of blood escaped from the corner of his mouth, but his eyes flashed with a crazed light.
"I, Black Wind, will remember this grudge! You just wait!" Black Wind roared and charged towards me recklessly.
I was prepared. With a quick hand gesture, an ancient bronze mirror appeared before me. This mirror, named the "Illusion Moon Mirror," was a magical artifact I obtained from an ancient ruin. It possessed immense power, and today it finally came in handy.
"Go!" I shouted softly, and a dazzling light shot out from the Illusion Moon Mirror, enveloping Black Wind. Black Wind immediately felt as if he were being burned by raging fire, letting out a shrill scream. He struggled frantically, but could not break free from the light's restraint.
“It’s over, Black Wind!” I looked at him coldly, without a trace of pity in my eyes.
As I increased my spiritual energy output, the light grew brighter and brighter, while Black Wind's screams grew weaker and weaker. Finally, he collapsed to the ground, his body charred black, barely clinging to life.
I slowly walked up to him, looking down at him, the Illusion Moon Mirror in my hand gleaming, ready to deliver the final blow...
"Cough cough..." Black Wind suddenly coughed violently. He struggled to lift his head, looked at me, and a strange smile appeared on his lips. "You think... you really won?" His hand trembled as he pulled a black talisman from his pocket...
A chill ran down my spine, and an ominous premonition washed over me. Before I could react, the black talisman in Black Wind's hand suddenly burst into flames, and a powerful, evil force instantly filled the entire stone chamber. I instinctively tried to retreat, but this force firmly held me in place.
"Hahaha... You think you can kill me? You're too green!" Black Wind's laughter turned sharp and piercing, like a demon from the deepest hell. "This is my trump card, a life-saving talisman. It burns my life force to grant instant teleportation! I will avenge today's grudge!"
The black light swallowed the black wind's figure, and the stone chamber returned to calm, leaving only a mess and charred marks on the ground. The Illusion Moon Mirror in my hand also gradually dimmed and fell limply to the ground.
"He...he actually escaped?" Li Yan stared incredulously at the empty space before her, her voice filled with disbelief and lingering fear.
I put away the Illusion Moon Mirror, took a deep breath, suppressed the surging emotions in my heart, and said in a deep voice, "He used a forbidden technique. Although he escaped with his life, he paid a heavy price. He shouldn't be able to cause trouble again for a while."
Although I said that, I knew in my heart that Black Wind was vengeful and would definitely find a way to get revenge if he escaped this time. Moreover, his last words were clearly an implication that he would come back for revenge.
I looked around. The mechanisms of the secret chamber were mostly destroyed, and there were bloodstains on the floor, a testament to the fierce battle that had just taken place. This victory had not come easily.
"Let's go too, we shouldn't stay here any longer," I said to Li Yan, forcing myself to stay despite my exhaustion.
"Okay." Li Yan nodded, understanding her current situation.
We helped each other, struggling to walk out of the stone chamber. The instant I stepped out, I suddenly felt dizzy, my vision went black, and my body uncontrollably fell backward…
"Xiao Yao!" Li Yan's anxious voice rang in my ears, but I was powerless to respond, my consciousness gradually fading into darkness...
"Don't worry, they've just overexerted their spiritual energy. They just need a rest." A gentle voice rang in my ear, carrying a reassuring power. "My magic artifact can help them recover quickly."
