Chapter 144: Elevator Encounter

Ouyang Mengmian's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, as if it was about to jump out of her chest. She felt like she was caught in a whirlwind, and everything around her became blurry. She opened her mouth slightly, wanting to say something, but her throat felt dry, as if her voice was blocked by something. She swallowed hard, trying to find her voice.

"Hey...Su Jingsi...you...are such a joker..." Ouyang Mengmian's voice trembled a little, and she instinctively wanted to reject Su Jingsi's obvious confession.

Although she tried to reveal a hint of lightness and joking in her words, her eyes betrayed her true emotions. Her eyes wandered on Su Jingsi's face, wanting to escape from this heavy atmosphere, but unable to hide her inner turmoil.

Ouyang Mengmian felt the warmth of Su Jingsi's palm, and she felt mixed emotions. She knew that she also had feelings for Su Jingsi, but this feeling came too suddenly, and she was a little unprepared. She took a deep breath and tried to calm her inner fluctuations.

"Su Jingsi, you surprised me..." Ouyang Mengmian's voice gradually stabilized, "I need time to sort out my thoughts. Please don't force me, okay?"

Su Jingsi nodded, loosened his hand, and gave Ouyang Mengmian a tolerant smile. He knew that he could not rush for success and had to respect Ouyang Mengmian's decision. He believed that as long as they gave each other enough time and space, this relationship would eventually have a happy ending.

Because of Li Xin's sudden appearance, Ouyang Mengmian no longer had the heart to sightsee. Su Jingsi estimated that it was about time, so he walked towards the apartment with Ouyang Mengmian.

The two of them had just gotten into the elevator and when the elevator door was about to close, a voice suddenly came from outside saying "wait a moment". Hearing the familiar voice, Su Jingsi's brows visibly wrinkled.

The half-closed elevator door reopened, and Li Xin, who had just been seen not long ago, reappeared in front of Su Jingsi and Ouyang Mengmian.

Ouyang Mengmian didn't expect to see Li Xin again in the elevator. She was slightly startled, but soon her face regained its composure. She looked at Li Xin, then turned her head away without saying anything, but her overly obvious movements had already revealed her inner restlessness.

Li Xin walked into the elevator with a calm expression. His eyes glanced back and forth between Ouyang Mengmian and Su Jingsi, finally fixing on Ouyang Mengmian, with undisguised affection in his eyes.

The atmosphere in the elevator suddenly became a little subtle. Li Xin's sudden appearance broke the quiet space where only Su Jingsi and Ouyang Mengmian were. The elevator slowly rose, and the atmosphere seemed to become heavier with each floor.

"What a coincidence, I didn't expect to meet you here again. You... live on the 16th floor, what a coincidence, my friend also lives on this floor..." Li Xin broke the silence first. There was some surprise in his expression when he looked at Su Jingsi, and there was a hint of inquiry in his tone.

Su Jingsi did not respond, but just glanced at him indifferently, then turned his gaze to Ouyang Mengmian, as if telling her with his eyes that he did not care about Li Xin's appearance.

However, Ouyang Mengmian seemed unable to completely relax. She turned her head slightly to avoid Su Jingsi's sight, but her heart could not help but begin to ripple. She didn't know what Li Xin's sudden appearance meant, nor did she know how to face it all.

The elevator finally arrived at the designated floor, and with a soft "ding" sound, the door slowly opened. Su Jingsi took the lead and stepped out of the elevator. He paused for a moment and looked back at Ouyang Mengmian, his eyes revealing a trace of concern and expectation, as if silently asking her if she was ready to go together.

Ouyang Mengmian took a deep breath, trying to calm her inner turmoil and trying to make herself look calm and composed. She walked towards Su Jingsi with light but firm steps.

At the same time, Li Xin followed closely behind them, his eyes as sharp as a hawk, fixed on Ouyang Mengmian, as if he wanted to see through her appearance to her true thoughts. However, Ouyang Mengmian never looked back from beginning to end, she just followed Su Jingsi silently, step by step towards Su Jingsi's room.

Seeing this, Li Xin hurriedly quickened his pace and chased after them. When he reached the corner, he happened to see Su Jingsi and Ouyang Mengmian standing in front of a door. Then, the door was pushed open, and their figures disappeared into the room without a trace.
