Chapter 157 The Proud Wand
Chapter 157 The Proud Wand
Bagman glanced at Krum and Fleur, neither of whom had any intention of talking to Gloria, and the atmosphere in the room became a little awkward.
"You are all warriors, why don't you sit down and talk."
Gloria walked to the wall near the door, closed her eyes and waited for others, without any intention of communicating.
Bagman laughed dryly. "I'll go see if Dumbledore is alright."
After everyone left, Fleur asked in a low voice, "How did you get your name into the Goblet of Fire?"
The sound wasn't loud but the room was small and with only three of them, they could hear it clearly.
Gloria lazily lifted her eyelids, "It's not me."
But the two of them obviously didn't believe her and looked at her secretly. Soon, Ms. Maxim and Principal Karkaroff came, followed by Mr. Short. The two principals spoke a few words to their students and then sat on the chairs.
Fortunately, Bagman soon arrived with Dumbledore and an expert in checking wands.
When the door was opened, only three warriors were there. Headmaster Dumbledore asked, "Where's Harry?"
"Oh—" Bagman pointed to the side, "Take that reporter and have a chat with him. It should be about time now."
An old man with white hair and light-colored eyes stared at Gloria with a hint of surprise. Most students who came to Hogwarts bought their wands from him, but this was the first time he had seen this man.
Dumbledore went to the next broom closet to find Harry and Rita, Bagman sat in the referee's chair, and the old man stood aside and waited.
Harry and the others came back soon, and Rita quickly found a corner seat and sat down, with her hands folded on her knees, the quill pen dangling at her side, ready to splash ink on the parchment at any time.
"Please allow me to introduce you to Mr. Ollivander, the expert who will be checking your wands," said Dumbledore. "This is to ensure that your wands are in good condition before the competition."
Mr. Ollivander walked to the middle of the clearing and said to Fleur, "Miss Delacour, may you come first?"
Fleur walked over lightly with her head held high, "Of course sir." She handed over her wand.
Ollivander checked the wand gently, and gently rotated the wand to spray out many pink and gold sparks, which was beautiful.
Ollivander exclaimed as he accurately revealed the wand's details. It turned out that the core of the wand was a strand of hair from Fleur's grandmother, who was one-quarter Veela.
Ollivander confirmed that there was no problem and cast a magic. A flower bloomed on the tip of the wand. "Miss Delacour's wand is in good condition." He picked the flower and handed it back to Fleur along with the wand.
Maxim was very satisfied with the result and looked at his students with a smile.
"Mr. Krum."
Krum walked over quickly, handed over the wand, and put his hands in his pockets.
"Gregorovitch's product. Although our styles are very different and we may not even agree on them..." Ollivander said, "But this wand is very good."
Magic was performed as usual, and Krum's wand was checked.
"Mr. Potter, we meet again."
Harry stepped forward awkwardly and handed him the wand that he had just quietly wiped with his robes. "Mr. Ollivander."
Ollivander did not tell the materials used to make the wand like he did to the previous two. He just checked it silently and finally let a stream of wine spray out from the tip of the wand.
“It is in undoubtedly good shape, just as it was three years ago.”
"Thank you." Harry took the wand and trotted back to where he had been standing.
"Last one, Miss Slytherin."
Gloria handed over the wand swiftly, but as soon as Ollivander took it, sparks burst out from the tip of the wand, startling everyone present.
"Oh - I recognize this wand. It was made by my great-grandfather and was his favorite. But it appears to have been bought a long time ago. It is unknown why it has come into your hands."
Gloria nodded. "Yes, my family elders bought it a long time ago, so I didn't go to your store to buy a new wand when I came to Hogwarts. It's a little proud and doesn't like other wizards touching it, so..."
Ollivander did not fiddle with the wand, but just looked at it with his eyes. "Thirteen inches, acacia wood, dragon heartstring, slightly flexible, a very proud wand. My great-grandfather recorded that even he was reluctant to touch it from the day it was made."
He held the wand and waved it lightly. A bunch of sparks popped out from the tip of the wand, almost filling the entire room, as if expressing his dissatisfaction.
"Although it's a little uncooperative, this wand is in very good condition." Ollivander returned the wand to her.
Bagman stood up and began to applaud. "Let's take a picture!" He stared at the man holding the camera with shining eyes. "Dumbledore, let the warriors take a picture together."
The velvet-covered tables were removed from the room, and Madame Maxime was too big to stand at the edge of the back row. Karkaroff was constantly adjusting his goatee, and Bagman was trying to breathe in to tighten his large belly, but it didn't work very well.
Gloria was standing directly front and center, with Harry huddled next to her like a chicken.
Rita deliberately went around to Harry's side, grabbed his arm and pulled him forward, "Everyone has to be on camera."
Gloria just glanced at this indifferently, and no one said anything about her standing in the middle position.
After a long struggle, a photo was finally taken, and then each warrior took a photo individually.
Harry foolishly took a solo photo with his hands on his hips under Rita's instructions.
By the time the wands were checked and pictures taken, Potions class was already over. Harry's eyes were lifeless and he felt that this class was not much better than Potions class.
On the way back, Harry asked, "Leah, Professor Moody said he was willing to help me, do you want to join us?"
Gloria remembered that her feud with Moody had not been made public. "No, although Professor Moody is a little crazy, he is quite capable. You can learn a lot from him."
Harry scratched his head, "Professor Moody has always taken good care of me."
Professor Moody had fought against Voldemort before, so he would definitely be more friendly to Harry, the savior. "Then you should learn more. The first project may have us deal with some kind of beast."
Harry's eyes widened. "Leah, you..." He looked around. "Have you got the relevant information?"
"No." Gloria said, "I just made a guess based on the content of the previous Triwizard Tournament."
"Okay, I'll go home first." Harry patted his schoolbag, "It's past the end of get out of class now."
Gloria nodded, "You can go back, Draco is waiting for me in the classroom."
After parting on the first floor, she went to the Potions classroom, where Draco was playing with the snake scale necklace he was wearing out of boredom.
"Draco."
"Lori, is it all over?" He tucked the necklace back into his collar.
"Well." Gloria remembered that Professor Snape wanted to test the antidote. "Who drank the poison today?"
The boy stepped onto the seat that was blocking his way, jumped down with his long legs, and walked in front of her in two or three steps. His every move was indescribably chic. "Who else could it be? That fat guy Longbottom."
"Oh..." Gloria asked, "Is he still alive?"
Draco frowned and thought for a moment, "I think so - after drinking the antidote and having no reaction, he was sent to the hospital wing."
