Chapter 449 Archaeologist
Chapter 449 Archaeologist
In the deepest part of the library maze, Howard met the person that Lia Weide mentioned.
When he found the "special consultant", he was climbing to the top of the ladder, looking for the information he needed from the top of the bookshelf.
Lia Weide stopped beside the ladder and waited patiently for the other party to find the scroll he wanted before saying:
"Mr. Antonio, it's been a long time."
Hearing Liavide's greeting, the man slowly climbed down from the top of the ladder and gently brushed off the dust covering the scroll in his hand.
He was a tall and thin old man with the demeanor of a classic gentleman, and he even had two carefully maintained mustaches on his upper lip.
His body did not seem to have undergone any mechanical modifications, and he wore a complex monocle in his right eye.
"Greetings, Mrs. Lia Weide." The special consultant named Antonio bowed gracefully to Lia Weide.
Then his gaze gradually settled on Howard:
"Mrs. Lia Weide, may I ask who this strange gentleman is?"
"Howard Sisyphus," Lia Weide introduced. "He was introduced here by an unspeakable great figure in the empire. Like you, he is also our special advisor."
Then Lia Weide introduced the old man to Howard:
"Antonio H. Savitar, special advisor to the Helveticon family, linguist, historian, and archaeologist. He is also a friend of Belisarius Cawl, the Grand Sage of the Martian Forge World."
"I wouldn't call us friends." Perhaps out of modesty, or perhaps to draw a line in the sand, Antonio tactfully refuted Lia Weide's statement. "It's just that in many aspects, that guy and I share the same views. But in this crazy universe, it's rare to find someone like that."
Then he turned his full attention to Howard.
He stuffed the scroll he had just found into his sleeve without causing the sleeve of his tight-fitting dress to bulge, and then he moved closer to Howard.
"Well... Mr. Howard, I don't know if you've noticed, but you possess some... unique qualities..." Antonio looked Howard up and down. His green pupils, refracted by the lens of his monocle, were almost a quarter the size of his face, like the eyes of a goldfish.
He looked Howard up and down, his goldfish-like eyes blinking constantly, as if he was admiring a rare work of art.
"I sense a sense of conflict in you. You're troubled by something, aren't you? You're in trouble but have no idea how to solve it, right? Perhaps I can help you."
Antonio's excessive enthusiasm made Howard unable to cope, and he couldn't help but take a half step back, and this small action naturally did not escape the other party's eyes.
However, Antonio also realized that he might be a little too excited, so he calmed down a little, and then searched his body again. After searching for a long time, he finally took out a black card.
"This is my business card, please accept it." Antonio said, "I hope we can have a cup of tea and chat together sometime when we're free."
Howard took the card. When he held it in his hand, he felt that its texture was cold and delicate. It seemed that it was not made of paper pulp but of some kind of mineral. At first glance, there was no text on the card, but if he tilted it slightly towards the light source, he would find that there were many tiny words engraved on it.
Howard accepted the strange business card and asked:
"So... Mr. Antonio, as a special advisor, what does your typical job entail?"
"I'm doing research and summarizing." Antonio didn't hide or conceal anything about this.
"I'm currently organizing the books in this library, searching for any knowledge that might be helpful to the current situation. Occasionally, I'll leave this spaceship to conduct field research on other planets. The hundreds of planets owned by the Helvensons hold countless relics and secrets. Unearthing and preserving them bit by bit, and then systematically summarizing them, is a very meaningful endeavor."
Then Antonio bowed to Liavide again and said:
"Please allow me to once again express my gratitude and respect for your generosity. This place is truly a paradise, containing so much precious history and knowledge... I've recently begun to understand some of the questions that have troubled me in the past. Furthermore, from some fragments of ancient texts, I seem to have located some lost treasures. If we can find a way to open them, I... I mean, we, will surely benefit greatly..."
When he was excited, Antonio even opened the terminal he carried with him and introduced his research results to Howard and Lia Weide.
The research results he showed were mostly scans of some cultural relics or murals, as well as translation blueprints of some scripture fragments. However, he did not intend to let Howard and Lia Weide see the details clearly, so the screen rotated very quickly.
But after he scrolled through a certain picture at an extremely fast speed, Howard's head suddenly felt a sharp pain.
Spell!
Howard instantly understood the cause of his headache.
The spell stored in his brain was compressed in a special way, greatly reducing the space occupied by his brain.
But how to restore these spells is a problem.
The research results that Antonio had just shown him contained fragments of the sealing spell.
These incomplete fragments stimulated what was sealed in his brain, and part of the spell was activated, as if it was about to burst out of his head.
"Lord Howard?"
Christina was the first to notice that something was wrong with Howard, so she asked with concern.
"I'm fine..."
Howard shook his head and said, but his headache was getting worse instead of better.
"Your heart rate and blood pressure are rising, Mr. Howard." But Antonio saw through Howard's question at a glance: "Did anything I showed you stimulate you?"
Howard wanted to speak, but the severe headache made it impossible for him to organize any decent words. He unconsciously hugged his head with both hands and gritted his teeth to prevent himself from screaming.
Faced with Howard's abnormality, Roland and Christina seemed a little panicked, while Leah Weide and Antonio both looked indifferent, as if all this was within their expectations.
Finally, the Tyrannosaurus, which had been silent all this time, responded.
He raised his right hand and gently tapped Howard's forehead.
A ray of clear and gentle power was injected into Howard's mind, and those chaotic symbols and leaping spells finally fell silent again.
Tyrannosaurus: "Someone has planted a curse in your brain."
