Chapter 247 White Roof
Chapter 247 White Roof
Yan Xun, holding the receiver, said, "Now I'll reiterate the rules of this community."
He repeated all the rules that the butler had just described, but when he got to the last rule related to the weather, the security guard spoke up.
"Wrong."
"If you hear that the weather is bad, you can tell us it's because of a neighbor with a long face."
"If you hear that the weather is nice, you should close your doors and windows."
"Would a security guard lie?" Yan Xun asked.
"The security guards don't lie," the person on the other end said.
Would a housekeeper lie?
“There’s no butler here,” the security guard replied, but after a moment he added, “Butlers lie.”
Yan Xun hung up the phone and relayed what he had said to Lou Yanchuan, "What do you think?"
"One of them must be lying."
Yan Xun thought for a moment, "Assuming the butler doesn't lie, then the security guard doesn't lie either. If the security guard says there's no butler, then the butler would lie. This contradicts the premise that the butler wouldn't lie. We should believe the rule mentioned by the security guard."
“Assuming the butler lies and the security guard doesn’t, and the butler doesn’t exist and does lie, then we should still believe the rules mentioned by the security guard because he only tells the truth.”
"The housekeeper might lie, and the claim that the security guard doesn't lie is false information. The security guard can also lie, but the first half of the rules they mentioned are exactly the same, only the one about the weather is the opposite. Unless they both gave false answers, I still tend to believe the rule mentioned by the security guard."
Yan Xun asked Lou Yanchuan, who was sitting in a wheelchair, "Uncle, what do you think?"
“I think we can take your deduction into consideration,” Lou Yanchuan said.
"What if we make a mistake?" Yan Xun asked.
Lou Yanchuan gave him a strange look, as if he were meeting him for the first time.
"What else can we do?" he said softly. "Those things, of course, we just kill them."
……
After leaving Yan Xun's family, the butler happily went to the new house.
The houses here all look pretty much the same, except for the color of their roofs. Yan Xun's family's roof is white, while the roof of the house he's going to now is red.
"Why hasn't anyone come yet?" the man muttered under his breath.
The woman next to him said, "They must be late."
The butler hurriedly appeared in front of the two, wiping the sweat from his forehead, "Something took a little while."
"I'll take you to see the house."
He looked at the man and woman with a smile, "I heard you're newlyweds?"
"Congratulations." He unlocked the door with his key. "This house is perfect for newlyweds..." He led them around the room. "Not only is there a media room and a game room, but if you want children in the future, there's also a special nursery."
The man and woman opposite him looked very young, probably just graduated from university.
The man's expression was somewhat stiff, while the woman's was very natural.
The woman listened to the housekeeper's introduction and then asked about the details, as well as information about the previous owner of the house.
Finally, the housekeeper explained the community's living rules and the details of the one-month trial period to them in detail.
"Are there any other people?" the man asked.
"Are there many people who have bought property in this community?"
“Five in total.” The butler held up five fingers. “This is a popular neighborhood, so it’s naturally very popular.”
"For three consecutive years, we have ranked first in resident satisfaction."
Perhaps finding the butler a bit long-winded, the man waved his hand again, saying, "I know."
"Can we get to know the others too?" the woman asked.
“…This…” the butler hesitated for a moment, “It is possible, it is possible.”
"There will be a welcome party for the new residents tonight. Those of you who are interested are welcome to attend."
He seemed to be in a hurry, and after confirming that the newlyweds had nothing else to say, he left in a rush.
Once the housekeeper left, the couple exchanged a glance.
"Lin Wen," the woman said.
"Fang Shuo," the man said.
They were all new players who had only recently started playing the game. Suddenly being assigned to a team by the system and having to play the role of a loving newlywed couple was a bit of a shock.
“I doubt whether all the rules the housekeeper just mentioned are correct,” Lin Wen said, glancing at the red telephone in the living room. “I’ll make a call and ask.”
Fang Shuo nodded.
Soon, a familiar security guard's voice came from the other end of the phone. The person on the other end did not respond much to their questions, but simply repeated the rules.
The temporary couple soon realized that the rules the security guard mentioned were different from those the housekeeper had told them.
Lin Wen frowned. "Is there a housekeeper in the community?"
"Butler?" the security guard replied immediately. "There are no security guards here."
Lin Wen and Fang Shuo exchanged a glance, then hung up the phone with a worried expression.
“I think we should trust the security guards more,” Fang Shuo said. “Let’s hope we don’t encounter any situations where they’re talking about the weather.”
Lin Wen nodded as well.
Meanwhile, a similar scene unfolded in three other families.
……
That evening, Yan Xun's father suddenly appeared at home.
They said the community was hosting a welcome party and invited all new residents who moved in around that time to attend.
“They said we could exchange experiences to avoid doing anything inappropriate and getting kicked out of the neighborhood,” Dad said with a sigh. “I’m sure we’ll never find a house this nice again.”
Mom nodded in agreement.
Soon, Yan Xun and his family were ready to arrive at the villa located at the center point at 7 p.m. sharp.
This is supposedly the location for the party tonight.
Yan Xun looked out the window at the pure white building hidden by trees.
"Are there any other neighbors besides us?"
“Yes,” Dad said, “the other newlyweds who live in the red house, the green house, the black house, and the yellow house.”
He described the characteristics of the remaining four households in one breath.
Yan Xun looked at the houses her father had mentioned.
"I'm going upstairs."
As he spoke, he walked through the living room and went straight up the carpeted wooden staircase to the top floor of the house.
His and Shuangshuang's rooms are both on the third floor.
Mom and Dad are on the second floor.
Lou Yanchuan, who has difficulty moving around, is on the first floor.
Looking down from the open terrace, Yan Xun discovered that the five villas, including his own, formed a five-pointed star pattern.
The pure white house where gatherings are held within the community is located at the center of the five-pointed star.
Yan Xun soon heard some noises. He turned around and saw Lou Yanchuan coming up from the elevator.
"Why didn't you wait for me?" Lou Yanchuan asked.
"With your abilities, how could a few floors be difficult for you?" Yan Xun leaned against the railing and looked back at Lou Yanchuan.
Lou Yanchuan spun his wheelchair around and came to Yan Xun's side. He followed Yan Xun's perspective to look at the remaining houses.
"At this point, there's still no mission notification."
